December is always a time to reflect and to plan. We think of our accomplishments and opportunities and we look to the future and make our resolutions.
One of my resolutions each year is to introduce a new person to the shooting sports, either by taking them to the range or just talking to them about target shooting. I am not shy about telling people where I work or what I do. I enjoy educating those unfamiliar with firearms about them and how much I enjoy the shooting sports. Of course, I hope my excitement is contagious.
I am also not shy about the fact that I own firearms. I am proud of it. And if you are a firearms owner, you should be too.
The NSSF has produced a great pocket card called “Proud to Be a Firearms Owner.” It lists lots of reasons to be proud of your firearms ownership. You can see the complete list here.
So how about introducing a new person to the shooting sports as one of your New Year’s resolutions?
One of our accomplishments in the past year has been the continued improvement of First Shots News. It contains great articles, tips and videos that are always available in our archives section as well as awesome sponsors. Feedback from readers like you have helped us make First Shots News a better, more valuable publication. Keep that feedback coming. Let me know if there is a topic you would like covered in the newsletter. You can reach me at tjuett@nssf.org.
I encourage you to use the content of First Shots News to help you develop as a target shooter, whether you are new or experienced.
I look forward to seeing you at a range next year. Until then remember, firearms safety depends on you!
Happy holidays to all!
